Beachfront Villas

The unique architectural design of our famous original cottage offers you the opportunity to truly enjoy the natural environment for which they were built. Surrounded by tropical gardens of oleander, hibiscus, and bougainvillea, they all front  the beautiful waters of Statia Sound and the Caribbean Sea and boast unobstructed sea views. These 20 secluded villas are located on the north end of the property. They are of natural timber construction with varnished hardwood floors, sliding screen and glass doors, and are decorated with batik fabrics and wicker. The wrap-around verandas also have hammocks large enough for two. All Villas have either twin beds or king-sized bed, large dressing area and shower with sea views, ceiling fans, refrigerator and coffee maker. They are designed to catch the balmy trade winds night and day. There are no phones.

North Sound Suites

Our most spacious accommodations are located on the south end of the property in twenty secluded bungalows spread across a flowered hillside of bougainvillea, hibiscus, and oleander rising high above a white sand beach and palm-shaded pool. The boast panoramic views of the Bitter End anchorage, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, refrigerator, coffee maker, and VCR available on request. All suites are comfortably furnished with batik and natural fabrics, and have marble outdoor showers large enough for two. You have a choice of a king bed or two queen beds. Suites have chauffeured transportation service on call.

The Estate House

A spacious two-bedroom, two-and-a-half  bathroom private house with spectacular views
of the anchorage of North Sound and the Caribbean. The living room and screened-in porch make these accommodations perfect for two couples or a family of up to six. Bedrooms and living room are spacious, air-conditioned and decorated with batiks, wicker, and Caribbean artifacts. Amenities include refrigerator, coffee maker, wet bar. The wide veranda with screened in porch is a lovely spot to read, relax and entertain.

Freedom 30 Live-Aboard Yachts

The Freedom-30 yachts are berthed at the Quarterdeck Marina and are fully equipped for inter-island cruising. They accommodate four people and receive full hotel services and amenities while docked at B.E.Y.C. 

Fully equipped galley, head with shower and pressure water, navigation station, diesel engine, and easy-to-sail rig make the Freedom ideal for cruising and living aboard.

Harbor facilities
The harbour features 70 moorings free from surge. Free launch service, and garbage pick-up for visiting yachtsmen.

The Quarterdeck Marina has 14 full-service slips plus additional dock space; other docks provide tie-up for dinghies, and berthing for visiting vessels up to 150 feet. You'll find all sorts of vessels here, ranging from small sailing craft to mega-yachts, visiting from all over the world.

BEYC's fuel dock sells diesel fuel, gasoline, water, ice, and marine repair services. Showers and toilet facilities are provided for visiting yachtsmen.

Provisioning is available at the Emporium.

Sailing is at the heart of Bitter End. We would like all guests to have the chance to enjoy the exhilaration of this sport. Therefore, we've developed a professional sailing program for beginners, with well-trained and experienced instructors using time-tested teaching methods, to guide you every step of the way.

Course 101 - Introduction to Sailing
Fee: FREE

A four-hour class with classroom and dockside demonstration. For everyone. No prerequisites. You will learn nautical terminology and an understanding of the forces at work and how to control them.

Course 102 A & B - Learn to Sail a Rhodes 19
Fee: $100

A hands-on, two-day learn-to-sail program for beginners. Four hours on the water each day. You'll learn to solo sail.  

  • Part A teaches the mechanical aspects of getting underway, executing maneuvers, and getting back to the mooring.
  • Part B concentrates on solidifying your knowledge of sail trim. Everything you have learned is brought together. Upon completion of Part B you are ready to solo in a Rhodes 19.
Course 201 A & B - Sailing and Racing J/24s
Fee: $100

For those having completed Course 102 or the equivalent, our Performance Sailing Course 201 is taught on J/24s, in two on-board sessions.

  • Part A teaches the fine points of sail trim, sail shape manipulation, and steering.
  • Part B teaches spinnaker handling and upwind performance.
Course 202 - Cruising Prep, Preparation for Bareboating
Fee: $100

A full day on-board session, designed to prepare experienced sailors for chartering.

You will plan a bluewater cruise to an outlying bay, and sail there and back on a Freedom 30. Learn reefing, working with winches, how to read the waters, and how to anchor.

Course 150, 250 - Boardsailing
Fee: $50

Basic Boardsailing Course 150 will teach a beginner to boardsail in one intensive half-day session. Demonstrations on the beach simulator. Most of the course is on the water with an instructor alongside. Course 250, for advanced board sailors, leads to Mistral Certification.

Private lessons are available in specialized skills.

Course 050 - Junior Summer Sailing
Fee: $25

For youngsters seven and up. Prerequisite: swim test. Three hours of on-the-water training each day. A fun way to learn basic boat handling, terminology, rigging, sail trim, and make new friends. Instruction on Optimist sailing dinghies, Sunfish, Escapes, Hobie Waves.
