| . Owned by quality-conscious Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, this celebrated Caribbean hotel has just undergone a stylish makeover and now there are even more reasons to visit this picturesque little corner of Virgin Gorda. Yet, just as they should, the beach and the ocean still dominate the resort, the low-rise buildings of stone, wood and thatch always playing happy second fiddle to the aquamarine waters and half-mile white sand beach. A hundred rooms, junior suites, suites and two or three-bedroom villas curve out along the reef-sheltered bay, some set slightly back in the gardens, others hexagonal in shape with views of the water and yet more raised on stilts next to the beach. Luxuriously appointed in neutral shades accented with tropical colour, they feature air-conditioning, fridges, private terraces and Bose CD-players, but no TV’s – getting away from it all tends to be the Little Dix Bay philosophy. This ideology is reflected throughout the property, although those wanting a little more than sun worshipping have a wide choice of activities at their disposal – on the water there’s water skiing, sailing, snorkelling, scuba-diving and sunset cruises; back on land there’s tennis courts, nature hikes, a creative children’s centre and island sightseeing trips, as well as a brand new swimming pool and enticing hillside spa with infinity-edge pool. Generous buffet breakfasts, grilled beachside lunches and cosmopolitan dinners all await in the three delightful restaurants.
