Katitche Point Greathouse, completed at the turn of the millennium, is already among the most beautiful and spectacular holiday domiciles in the British Virgin Islands. Built by the renown British architect Michael Helm, whose buildings are often featured in Architectural Digest magazine, this property is yet another masterpiece of superb design. Elegant and refined furnishings with masterpiece artworks are found throughout the villa. Rich wood tones and Puerto Rican Sandstone set the backdrop for sophisticated accents and accessories. Situated on the west side of Virgin Gorda on a rocky outcrop directly above the sea between Mahoe Bay and Pond Bay, the villa offers breathtaking ocean views over Sir Francis Drake Channel where you can see the Caribbean as well as the Atlantic. From the villa's own infinity swimming pool deck and special third floor roof window, you can look across turquoise blue, shimmering water to Tortola and the neighboring Dog Islands. Katitche Point Greathouse is a secluded, small holiday village in its own right and includes the main house in pyramid shape, four large suites, and an additional, even more spacious master bedroom, each with an en-suite bath and private verandah with breathtaking sea views. The pyramid-shaped main house, visible from far offshore, is eleven meters (34') high and offers space for social gatherings as well as reclusion on three levels The lowest level features a superbly decorated living area with comfortable English couches, teak dining table seating up to 14 people, BOSE stereo system with an extensive CD collection, and a professional kitchen meeting the most exacting standards. Outdoor living and dining verandahs surround these Greathouse interior areas. A staircase takes you to the Gallery on the second floor with a library, wide-screen TV, and four comfortable loungers which can be made into additional beds. Part of the room overlooks the dining and living area while the other side has large windows for viewing the sea and Virgin Gorda. Guests will find the Gallery a special place to relax, play games, and watch videos. A steep steel ladder allows access to the very highest point of the villa and you will find the "Crow's Nest" at the top of the pyramid on the third level, an ideal vantage point to observe the star-studded night sky. Big pillows are scattered here and there on the Persian carpet; a hammock allows for private and peaceful escape. Wide verandahs surround the main house and provide clusters of gathering areas. A breakfast corner overlooks Mango Bay beach and sea; hammocks allow for peaceful relaxing, and a pair of hanging swings face "sky seats". One verandah features an outdoor bar overlooking the pool deck. |
